Ultra-processed foods may be harming brain health in otherwise healthy adults
A Canadian study links higher ultra-processed food intake with MRI signs of small-vessel brain damage in otherwise healthy middle-aged adults, with a stronger association seen among women. The findings suggest UPFs may displace healthier foods and could be tied to future stroke or cognitive risk, though the study does not prove causation.
